Job Description

Domestic Violence Outreach Support WorkerLocation: LeicesterLength: Temporary to permanent (after 12 weeks)Hours: 37 hours per weekEvening and weekend work requiredPay: £9 - £10 per hour (temporary) £20,541 per annum (permanent starting salary)Venn Group is currently recruiting for an Outreach Support Worker to provide a high quality practical and emotional support to families living in the community who are living with, or have lived with, domestic abuse/violence.Responsibilities of the role:

  • To provide a high quality practical and emotional support to families living in the community who are living with, or have lived with, domestic abuse/violence
  • To work with survivors to assess need and risk in order to establish and maintain a support/safety plan, on a 1-to-1 basis, both face to face and over the telephone
  • To facilitate groups and other peer support opportunities for those fleeing from Domestic Abuse to come together and share experiences/gain support
  • To enable and encourage survivors to access services relevant to resolving their issues such as legal advice, housing and benefit rights, education and health services
  • To offer advocacy for those fleeing Domestic Abuse by supporting them to have their needs met by other agencies and where appropriate referring to other services
  • To work according to sound safeguarding principles to ensure that the welfare of children and vulnerable adults are paramount and appropriate records are maintained
  • To support those fleeing Domestic Abuse through protective interventions for themselves and their family, including supporting them through the civil and criminal court process
  • To ensure that security of sensitive information is maintained and complies with the requirements of the GDPR legislation and other relevant legislation, whilst also maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Essential experience/requirements:
  • Full UK drivers’ license and access to own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS certificate
  • Previous experience in a supportive, domestic violence role
