The DevOps Engineer role will drive through improvements in the management and Delivery of solutionsproduced by the Development Team. As part of the Digital Solutions team within Babcock Naval Marine youll form part of an amazing, diverse and inclusive team of talented people that provide specialist knowledge management and technical expertise on a rangeof interesting products, technologies and collaborative solutions that support both our internal and external Royal Navy customers.Who we are looking forThe role will be responsible for reviewing the underlying architecture that supports both the Development and Test Teams within Digital Solutions. The role will gather requirements from the various Development Teams (.NET, Oracle, Java and Appian), and TestTeams to deliver a platform for the management and delivery of software solutions, and continually review these to ensure best practise and adherence to quality standards.What will you be doing* Manage and maintain the Microsoft Azure Cloud service, which includes setting up new servers, reviewing current servers, decommissioning and recommending future use of the service.* Work with the Development Managers to come up with an automated deployment methodology, and the required toolsets to support this. Provide on-going assistance with this and development of the service.* Work with the Head of Development and Development Managers to review the development management tools and delivery of a consistent methodology for using these.* Work with the Development Managers and Test Manager to come up with an automated testing methodology and the toolsets to support this. Provide on-going assistance with this and development of the service.* Work with the Development Managers, Test Managers and PMO to adopt agile software development and delivery, and the methods and toolsets required to support this.* Day-to-day management of the above toolsets, both cloud based and on premise development environments, to ensure that these are operating effectively. Work with the Infrastructure and Services Team to resolve issues with those.* Act as the intermediary between Development and the Architecture to help define the hardware requirements for any delivered solutions.
