I am currently have an exciting opportunity for a Case Builder (Crime) to join Leicestershire Police within their Criminal Justice Team on a temporary ongoing basis.We are ideally looking for someone who has previously worked within the Police and has an understanding of reviewing and submitting case files to the CPS.You will be working Monday to Friday at their headquarters based near EnderbyJob Role/Purpose: To undertake case preparation work and quality control within the Criminal Justice Team. Review files submitted for consideration of summons/requisition procedures and make decisions upon thedisposal of these files taking into account diversion options, the evidential and public interest tests set out in the Code for Crown Prosecutors and the Directors Guidance on Charging.Operational:Review files submitted by officers and ensure they are prepared to the correct standard in linewith National File Standard and Manual of Guidance. Review documents and statements toensure sensitive material is identified and removed. Submit to CPS with correct namingconventions applied and within timescales.Applying professional knowledge and decision making to rate/rank the quality and timeliness offiles received from officersWhere items are missing in files, request completion by OIC within agreed timescalesEnsure relevant items (e.g., CCTV where necessary) are correctly attached to file beforeSubmissionAction CPS memos and requests for additional items. This will include generating requests toOfficers/Investigators for additional statements/information as appropriate (for examplemedical/CSI statements)To act as point of contact for allocated files, liaising with other unit/Force members andpartnership agencies addressing enquiries of both a general and technical natureManage your own workload and escalate issues effectively in support of effective caseManagementConduct enquiries on the PNC, providing printouts of previous convictions for all prosecutionfiles in accordance with national guidelinesWatching CCTV and BWV to ensure it is viewable, playable, and relevant (i.e., not blank);copying of CCTV/BWV.Wherever possible to assist OIC in rectifying issues identified before submission to CPSWhere required, to redact unused material including crime reports, incident logs and custody records. Administration: To undertake any necessary administrative tasks associated with the development and composition of a completed file. This may include CCTVcopying, DIR retrieval, PNC General: Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job, to include providing cover, when needed and appropriate, of a similar role to other Criminal JusticeareasESSENTIAL CRITERIAKnowledge/ Education (including qualifications):
