Job Description

Recruiting for a Website Officer to join a busy Marketing team at StepChange Debt Charity in Leeds. To maintain, improve, optimise and enhance the charitys website through the delivery of effective content and functional improvements, using digital tools.You will carefully consider the needs of a diverse audience to increase engagement, and improve performance and conversion rates.This role offers a combination of remote working with some days in our new offices in Leeds city centre.What you will be doing

  • Support the website editor and Marketing function by producing the outputs of the agreed content strategy to increase and optimise conversion
  • Manage, maintain and improve the quality and consistency of digital content output, primarily through the charity websites content management system
  • Review and report on the impact and engagement levels of published material
  • Research, produce, gain approval, and when agreed, publish high-quality online material, aligning with the brand, end user and search engine considerations
  • Adhere to agreed website processes, and identify and implement efficiency improvements
  • Support the management of website activities and projects, working with appropriate teams/individuals as required to ensure quality deliveries are achieved
  • Represent the team as requested in external meetings, for example with agencies, provide business needs and creative input and play a part in the definition of agreed work and initiatives
  • Provide detailed and accurate insight and analysis of digital output, make recommendations to inform future work and content development, and implement
  • Attend training and mentoring on existing and new systems and processes, as required
  • Proactively identify relevant content topics, formats, and improvements to enhance our online portfolio, and deliver these as agreed
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in debt legislation and debt advice policy through review of advice libraries and appropriate training. Have responsibility for ensuring that website content is accurate and conforms to our advice policy
What we want from you
  • Business experience of fast-paced content production
  • Degree-level education in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Previous use of web-based content management systems
  • Experience of writing online content
  • A passionate interest in using online communications and experience of using these in a business setting
  • Understanding of SEO, UX and content design
  • Experience of working alongside external agencies to inform technical change and creative output
  • Understanding and knowledge of front-end code, for example HTML
  • Experience of using photo and image manipulation software, for example PhotoShop
  • ICM Diploma in Money and Debt Advice, or similar (desirable)
  • Online marketing qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of providing debt knowledge to advisor level or equivalent (desirable)
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to produce clear, concise information for a variety of audiences
  • Comfortable providing feedback - both written and verbal
  • Confident in meetings and presentations
  • Project work experience (desirable)
