Technical Director - Civil Engineering and Flood Risk ManagementLeeds£55-65kTo meet our clients growing business needs and future development aspirations, they are looking for an experienced Principal or Technical Director within the discipline of civil engineering, specialising in Flood Risk Management to be part of their growingengineering teams located within one of their Leeds office. The successful candidate will have been in the industry for several years and will lead technical work for civil/structural engineering problems within a fluvial and/or coastal environment.Based in their Head office in Leeds, the role will involve provision of project governance and technical accountability on various appraisal, detailed design and construction schemes delivered by the co-located design and build teams and the JV partners. Witha background in civil engineering, you will primarily be working on a range of flood risk alleviation projects involving river and surface water flooding. These projects make a difference to local communities and the environment, serving a range of publicand private sector clients including regulators, local authorities, water utility and strategic construction companies.You will report to the Lead Design Manager and will assist with the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including options appraisal, concept design and detailed scheme design. It is expected that the you will formallyand informally mentor and supervise junior staff, site works and input to bid and tender preparation in a design & build environment. In addition, the you will support the Senior Management Team with strategic business development across the business and alsowith their JV partners.The post will work closely with engineers and other technical staff from across their other offices, primarily on the Environment Agency WEM Framework. You would be joining a dynamic team in Leeds who are enjoying project success which has been recognised byrecent industry awards.You will have experience in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for flood risk management, managing projects, contracts, specification preparation and liaising with clients. You will have a track record of supervising multi-disciplinaryteams to develop design solutions and also the development and co-ordination of multi-disciplinary design of flood risk projects and risk management solutions. The position requires taking a technical leadership role in ensuring flood management project deliverablesmeet clients needs, including taking ownership and responsibility for the quality of project work to meet the highest standards.You will be expected to champion technical innovation to improve efficiency and quality of delivery, ensuring effective dissemination of latest methodologies and tools and provide insight and technical input to business development activities across the widerbusiness. As well as having experience of leading and winning tender opportunities, you will be able to provide project management/direction with oversight of civil, hydraulic and environmental inputs, on a variety of flood risk management projects. You willalso liaise with clients, hydraulic modellers, project managers and other design and management team members and demonstrate experience of Safety in Design and Designers responsibilities under CDM. For this role professional membership of a recognised professional institution such as the ICE, IStructE or CIWEM and a degree in Civil Engineering is essential. My client has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has personnelwho can support your teams progress through to Chartership alongside your mentorship.
