Job Description

Squad LeadLocation: Leeds (Hybrid remote)Salary: Up to £55k - £65k + 15% bonusFirmly positioned within the tech sector as an industry-leading company, our client is a world-renowned and ever-evolving organisation that has arisen to the top of the crowded marketplace through a strict and meticulous brand philosophy that centres around customer focus, innovation, and quality.With the company currently embarking on an exciting period of growth and investment, they’re now looking to bring in experienced and dynamic Squad Leads to help design and implement high-quality software on behalf of the team. With your time being split between coding and leading a team of 4, you’ll be joining a company that’s heavily invested in improving and expanding its development teams.In combination with a successful applicant being given the tools and autonomy to shape their career path into a range of job routes from Architectural to Scrum/Delivery Manager positions, it’s a fantastic role for anyone looking to expand their career horizons!Key responsibilities:

  • Work alongside engineering leads and help ensure software quality, stability, and structure is at the forefront of the team’s priorities
  • Mentor, guide, and nurture senior members to success - ensuring constantly that engineering quality KPI’s are reached and efficient apps are created
  • Design, code, verify, tests, document, amend and refactor complex software
  • Take the lead over technical planning sessions and show junior members how agile user stories should be implemented
  • Ensure all user stories within your squads remit are appropriately planned in the detail
  • Maintain documentation and ensure that the knowledge acquired is available across the organisation and built into the squads as a discipline
  • Consistently prevent defects and demonstrate the process to senior and junior developers
    • Candidate requirements:
  • Solid experience building commercial applications in Java
  • Significant experience working with agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Background in DevOps principles and CI/CD automation practices
  • Firm background in Java and Spring boot
  • Highly focused with a keen ability to break down and solve software problems
  • Demonstrable experience in using object-orientated design patterns to build software solutions
  • Knowledge in AWS Frameworks and containers (EC2,ECS, Fargate etc)
  • Good working knowledge of unit testing & integration testing frameworks
  • Refined communications skills both written and orally
