Job Description

Its about looking around us, seeing what needs to be done and what could be done and making it happen.THE ROLESenior Software Engineer ASDA Technology is going through a significant transformation from a traditional delivery organisation, to a Digital and DevOps based model with a relentless focus on our customer. A fantastic opportunity is available for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our Scrum Teams. Youll need to have significant hands on experience with front end languages including design, build and operate of cloud based mircoservices, ideally in a mobile environment. In return youll get to see the Applications your team build being used by Colleagues and Customers.

  • Deliver high quality technical designs for new or existing Applications
  • Take accountability for significant deliverables from the product backlog
  • Be a key contributor to the Software community of practise and drive a culture of knowledge sharing
  • Develop and maintain ASDAs development principals and coding guidelines.
    • ABOUT YOU
  • Significant design and hands-on expertise with front end languages including one or more JavaScript Frameworks (e.g. React, React Native, NodeJS, Typescript, Redux, NPM).
  • Experience in object orientated programming languages and techniques e.g. C#, Java
  • Significant experience in Design, Build and Operate Cloud based Microservices (AWS, Azure) and Containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Expert in source code management and branching and a passion for Continuous Integration
  • Experience of working in an Agile delivery environment and an awareness of other methodologies (Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban)
  • Advocate for Test-first, Secure by default and Continual service transition ways of working
  • Experience in relational / non-relational databases.
