Job Description

NHSX is leading the largest digital health and social care transformation programme in the world. With investment of more than £1 billion pounds a year nationally and a significant additional spend locally, NHSX has been created to give staff and citizens the technology they need.NHSX brings together the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement who will deliver the Health Secretary’s Tech Vision, building on the NHS Long Term Plan. We will speed up the digital transformation of the NHS and social care. We have set ourselves five missions, which are focused on how we can make things better for patients and staff.These are:

  • Reducing the burden on clinicians and staff, so they can focus on patients
  • Giving people the tools to access information and services directly
  • Ensuring clinical information can be safely accessed, wherever it is needed
  • Improving patient safety across the NHS
  • Improving NHS productivity with digital technology
    • The Delivery Hub team sits within the Operations Directorate within NHSX. It focuses on overseeing the transformational change activity and live services across the health and care system that make up the Technology Transformation Portfolio for which NHSX is responsible for as the strategic commissioner of digital, data and technology.The team is divided into five key areas:- Portfolio Controls: including planning, reporting and governance- Investment and Benefits: including approvals, work commissioning and benefits, research and evaluation- Programmes and Delivery: including business partnering, project profession and delivery assurance- Enterprise Risk Management: including risks and issues across the system- Continuous Improvement: including operating model, policies and proceduresThe Senior Programme Manager - Programme Business Partnering
  • Ensure strategic alignment of projects and programmes across NHSE/I, NHSX, DH and NHSD
  • Drive successful delivery across the NHSX portfolio.
  • Support programmes in such a way as to raise the knowledge, skills and expertise of our programme teams
    • This is the perfect role for an organised, enthusiastic individual who is keen to develop themselves personally and support the development of our service. The successful candidate will be expected to provide comprehensive and high quality daily admin support to the operations team.In particular the post holder will:
  • Assume the role of Senior Programme Manager and may be assigned from time to time to one of the below, taking into consideration the needs of the organisation as well as the aspirations of the individual.:
  • Programme Business partnering - providing support to the Assistant Director of Programmes in assessing the both the strategic alignment and health of projects and programmes in the portfolio catalogue
  • Delivery of a specific programme in the NHSX portfolio for a defined period.
  • Provide practical support to enable a clear, universal understanding of the status of projects or programmes
  • Contribute to developing a sustainable framework for assuring the programme portfolio
  • Support projects and programmes to ensure that governance and process is clearly understood and followed
  • Work closely with various NHSX teams (CTO, Commercial, Finance, Policy etc) to ensure that projects and programmes are fit for purpose, strategically aligned and approved
  • Collaborate with programmes and teams across NHSX, NHSE and NHSD to ensure effective alignment and develop a sustainable and deliverable portfolio
  • Provide delivery skills, knowledge and experience to enable successful delivery of programmes within the NHSX Portfolio (which are various but includeInfrastructure, Digital, IT, Standards and Policy focussed programmes)
