Job Description

Senior Manager - Data Management and GovernanceWould you like to implement and lead a new data management and governance function and recruit a team that reports directly into youWould you like to work for a team where the Senior Director will see you as the expert and give you the freedom to change and set the direction of your teamDo you want to be part of making a big step change in the data space in a fast-paced retail environmentAsda Tech has grown dramatically this year with 60 new positions and around 20 new positions within the Data team. This has also resulted in a number of internal promotions along with some new external colleagues who have recently joined. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career, but also grow and develop your team to the next level.Youll be a Senior Manager reporting into the Senior Director with a small team reporting directly into you.Its a really flexible environment, so dont worry if you need to drop the kids off, or check in on your parents, as we wont be clock watching you. You will also be able to work remotely 2-3 days a week depending on workload and government advice. As the role is based in Asda House in Leeds, then this will be your base location.What youll do

  • Implementing and leading a new data management and governance function.
  • Developing and shaping the capability and coordinating data management and governance around ASDA in line with Walmart policies and processes.
  • Pro-actively engaging colleagues around ASDA about the benefits of treating data as an asset
  • Working collaboratively with the Privacy Team to implement Privacy controls when processing Personal Information. Spread awareness of Privacy by Design and the Privacy Impact Assessment Process
  • Setting up and managing an ASDA Data Management and Governance community
  • Working with solution design, data architecture, development and ops teams to ensure data lineage is identified, mapped and documented. Working with the Privacy Team to align this data linkage to Asdas Records of Processing within OneTrust.
  • Developing a “one team” partnership model with key third party suppliers and resources.
    • About you:
  • You have a background of leading data management and governance teams to deliver measurable benefits and a good knowledge of the main frameworks, tools and technologies in this space (Collibra experience a bonus).
  • Strong knowledge of data governance and the relevant policies and regulations, such as GDPR.
  • You will be proactive and keen to help the business better manage and govern its data.
