Job Description

£50,000 per annum and Car Allowance 6k per annumReporting to the Head of IT, the principal responsibility of the role is to lead the development team in delivering PerfectHome’s digital strategy. Youll be a key factor in ensuring the main customer facing products are built using best practice coding and technical development standards. This includes writing and checking code for responsive web (mobile, tablet, desktop) as well as on mobile specific platforms such as an app.Youll need strong full stack development background and be used to delivering high-quality software to tight deadlines. Your team will be delivering bespoke solutions for both internal and external facing platforms for our growing online business.You’ll work closely with the Head of IT and the Digital Marketing Teams in delivering the IT and website strategy and plan, and youll also be involved in the full development lifecycle from process & scope, elaboration, to development & testing.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Line management of a small team of developers.
  • Work with the development team, ensuring high quality software releases, focusing on functional, system and user interface testing.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and third parties regarding all aspects of the development teams deliverables and strategy.
  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
  • Work closely with software testing teams to investigate the causes of defects and help develop solutions.
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements prior to releasing for test
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
  • A strong focus on process improvement within the delivery teams with a clear objective of improving quality assurance and increasing efficiency within the delivery strategy.
  • Maintaining awareness and then introducing the latest (appropriate) techniques and practices to our product development.
    • Essential Skills
  • Demonstrable experience in Web development, preferably using industry-standard languages and technologies (such as JavaScript and PHP).
  • Consideration of key operational concerns (e.g. scalability, availability, security)
  • Experience working with various design patterns (e.g. MVC, MVVM, Flux)
  • Working knowledge of Modern Web Libraries and Frameworks (e.g. ExtJS, React, Redux)
  • Effective team collaboration, speaking up, challenging ideas, agreeing, and committing.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders with a less technical background
  • Experience of setting Development Standards and performing Code Reviews
  • Experience of designing large scale web solutions, microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, agile delivery environment with regular releases to a live environment.
  • Experience and proficiency using cloud-based project management apps such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to understand project requirements and to work with other team members
  • Passion and interest in e-Commerce and online retail keeping up with the latest trends and advancements in development techniques
