Job Description

Senior Finance Officer Leeds Based North Leeds, LS62-3 days per week, flexibleSalary negotiable approx. £37,000 pro rataWe are seeking a motivated and detail focused individual to join our clients team to work in conjunction with the treasurer to take up responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finances.The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified, however this is not essential as we also welcome applicants who are qualified by experience. It is not essential to have had previous experience of working within a charity sector, however this would be advantageous.We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of accounting software systems, but not necessarily Xero Accounting Software, as full training will be provided. This role would be ideal for someone looking for an opportunity to play a key role in introducingand improving existing systems and processes whilst working within an established team.OVERVIEW OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, monitor and maintain effective accounting systems using Xero software, supported by training from specialist external support
  • Undertake day to day recording of financial transactions on the accounting software
  • Comply with internal financial control procedures
  • Ensure all income and expenditure transactions are coded to the correct nominal codes and departmental codes
  • Prepare budgets and financial management reports covering income and expenditure, balance sheet and the cash flow statement, with support from the charitys treasurer, for consideration by the Trustees of the charity.
  • Monitor and maintain budgets - produce monthly budget reports and circulate to the Board of Trustees as required.
  • Monitor bank statements weekly and prepare month end bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with senior staff and signatories to obtain authorisation of expenditure
  • Monitor the bank statements and the administrative records to ensure that all payments of benefit are received by the charity
  • Payroll - administer monthly pay. Collate timesheets and submit analysed data to the outsourced payroll providers, acting as a point of contact. Make payments to HMRC, and other third parties
  • Administer the charitys pension scheme and make the necessary monthly payments
  • Record and account for petty cash transactions
