Job Description

I am now working on behalf of a large manufacturing organisation based in Sherburn, Leeds who due to internal changes are now looking to recruit a new Project Engineer. As the project engineer you will have a technical engineering background with the ability to technical support and advise client on potential product improvements.Client DetailsBased in Sherburn, Leeds my client is a large manufacturing business who design all of their own products internally. They are currently going through some positive internal changes and due to this growth are looking to add a new Project Engineer or Technical Support Engineer to the team.DescriptionReporting into the Group Reliability Manager as the Project engineer you will Support the Aftersales division in solving in-service failures and quality issues while providing short term and long-term resolutions. You will supply the engineering department with new ideas and ways of implementing effective solutions.As the successful candidate you will utilise your problem-solving skills and support the engineering team in any technical solutions. You will work closely with field service technicians and production staff as well as the technical and design team. You will also have the skills to read and implement engineering drawings as well as spreadsheets and CAD data.MAIN DUTIES:

  • Carry out investigations into reliability issues, warranty issues, component failures at service centres or at customers premises.
  • Collating information from multiple sources to identify root cause and effective remedial actions.
  • Design, test and introduce engineered solutions to problems, for both in-service and ongoing production vehicles.
  • Provide technical/engineering support to Aftersales team including service centres, technicians and customer service managers.
  • Provide the technical support for Warranty to assist with settlement and resolution.
  • Liaise with both customers, operators, suppliers, technicians and production staff to ensure effective communication on cause and remedial actions.
    • ProfileTo apply for this position, you should be in a position to demonstrate a strong level of general engineering knowledge, including:
  • Structural design, steelwork, fabrication.
  • Bodywork and interiors, including materials, design, regulations relevant to PSVs etc.
  • Electrical systems, CANbus networks, multiplexing, EV systems, general vehicle electrics.
  • Manufacturing and assembly methods and practices.
  • An ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and changing priorities.
  • Clear communication through a variety of methods e.g. using visual tools, diagrams, drawings, reports.
  • An ability to interpret engineering drawings, reports and other technical data.
  • Good IT skills including 3D parametric design (Solidworks or similar).
  • A tendency to be inquisitive, creative, analytical, with a good attention to detail.
