The Project Buyer is responsible for strategic purchasing of new precision-engineered components. Working for a world-leading manufacturer based in Leeds, the role of NPI Buyer works closely with Project Management and Quality teams to ensure the highestcompetence in material and supplier performance to meet the customer requirement.The Project Buyer will be involved with establishing Supply Chain strategies for new products. Collaborating with international and external stakeholders to establish commercial competition to drive VA/VE that delivers successful integration of products tofull-scale production.You will: - Ensure component supply strategy is aligned with plant vision in terms of Cost, Quality, Delivery and Flexibility- Ensure New Product Introduction programs are delivered on time and at target cost - Maintain an up to date awareness of Market Forces and Trends - Negotiate initial component costs and lead time agreements, including fixturing, tooling and gauging associated with component manufacture - Prepare RFQs using suppliers from approved bidding lists- Select suppliers for NPI projects- Ensure supplier readiness for SOP through working with the responsible SDEs - Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities- Regular reporting of cost savings, supplier performance and progress in NPI projects to the Purchasing Manager and the Supply Chain Manager- Assist in the forecasting of material and economic changes to component costs - Maintain confidentiality of all work and personnel mattersBackground:- Ideally Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or related field- Ideally 5 years purchasing experience (automotive and/or manufacturing)- Practical experience in the procurement of casting and machining processes- Computer literate (MS Office)- MRP experience required; Knowledge of SAP - Ability to read engineering drawings- Good written, verbal and presentation skills- Excellent negotiation skillsSalary:- £38,000 - £45,000 Pension, Holiday, Flexi benefitsPermanentLeeds, West YorkshireElevation Recruitment Groups Procurement and Supply Chain division work with a vast range of businesses across Yorkshire and Humberside, Lincolnshire and East Midlands regions.
