Job Description

Kloeckner Metals UK Limited (Kloeckner) is the UK subsidiary of the German listed, market-leading, 6.3bn turnover, 8,600 employee, global steel trading and distribution group based in Duisburg, Germany.The UK business, headquartered in Leeds, operates out of 11 principal locations, employs circa 700 staffThe Role:Based at our site in Leeds we are looking for a Processing Operative. The role will involve operating heavy machinery such as Punch & Shear Line, fork-lift trucks and overhead cranes. The site processes thousands of tonnes of steel each week and so healthand safety is a primary concern for us. As such, youll be given full training on how to operate all the machinery in our site as well as manual handling and general health and safety training.Hours of work are 2:00pm - 10:00pm Monday to FridayThe main purpose of this role:

  • Operate the Punch & Shear Line or an appropriate scheduled activity e.g. picking, machine operation, loading, basic maintenance, TPM, 5S, or any other duties as directed. This may involve moving to another areas, machine centre, or location. All activitiesmust be carried out in accordance with EHS, Quality & safe working practices
What youll need:To be successful in the role you will have experience operating a punch &shear, FLTs & overhead cranes, preferably in a manufacturing, Steel environment, warehousing or distribution.   • Set up tools on the Punch & Shear
  • Select, inspect and load component material
  • Carry out processing of material
  • Carry out and record finished goods inspections as specified
  • Identify programming and set up errors
  • Work with managers and supervisors to implement the companies policies and business objective
  • Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat & tidy
  • Carry out continuous improvement, 5S and total production maintenance activities
