Job Description

Kloeckner Metals UK (Kloeckner) is the UK subsidiary of the German listed, market-leading, 6.3bn turnover, 8,600 employee, global steel trading and distribution group based in Duisburg, Germany.The UK business, headquartered in Leeds, operates out of 11 principal locations, employs circa 700 staffThe Role:Based at our site in Leeds (LS10 1SD) we are looking for a Machine Operative. The role will involve operating heavy types of machinery such as saws, fork-lift trucks and overhead cranes. The site processes thousands of tonnes of steel each week and so healthand safety is a primary concern for us. As such, youll be given full training on how to operate all the machinery on our site as well as manual handling and general health and safety training.Hours of work are fixed 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday to Friday or 10.00pm to 6.00am Monday to FridayThe main purpose of this role:

  • Operate the Saw Machine or an appropriate scheduled activity e.g. machine operation, loading, basic maintenance, TPM, 5S, or any other duties as directed. This may involve moving to other areas, machine centres, or locations. All activities must be carriedout in accordance with EHS, Quality & safe working practices
What youll need:To be successful in the role you will have experience operating a profiling machine, Saw CNC Machine or similar, FLT Counter balance and overhead crane advantageous preferably in a manufacturing, Steel environment, warehousing or distribution.
