Job Description

At OFG, we work smarter so you can spend more time doing the things you love!Become a Principal Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) at our school Armley Grange, part of Options Autism and start working towards yours.Salary:£25,000 per annumContract:Permanent, Term Time OnlyHours:40 hours per week, Monday to FridayAbout usArmley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces withthe needs of the children in mind.Armley Grange is a day school that caters for students from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each child to achieve theirgoals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each childs potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to thededication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.Purpose of the Job

  • To form part of the senior support lead team and assist teachers in offering mentoring support, training and guidance to other Teaching Assistants
  • To lead and model positive behaviour management with proactive and solution focussed approaches
  • To contribute to the preparation and planning of lessons including developing resources and opportunities for young peoples to learn in school and out-of-school contexts in accordance with lesson plans and in response to young people need
  • To prepare and deliver lessons, under the direction of the teacher, including covering for teacher absence
  • To share the schools responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development, safeguarding and well-being of all young people
  • To ensure recording and reporting across the school is completed to a high standard
Person specification:
  • To be an experienced practitioner in classrooms
  • Have 4 to 5 years experience of being a HLTA
  • Line Management Experience - as you will be required to provide guidance and support to our TAs in school
  • To have achieved HLTA status or have equivalent experience
  • To have knowledge and understanding of autism spectrum disorder, learning difficultiesattachment and developmental traumaand associated behavioural needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lead and coordinate effectively
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • To have Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or equivalent
