Job Description

They think in our clients shoes, as part of a team - effective business people as well as efficient lawyers. The Team Our Pensions Team is based across our London and Leeds offices. The team are all involved in a wide range of different matters, so there is plenty of variety and scope to grow. Our Pensions Group are involved in all aspects of advisory and corporate support pensions advice. The Group:

  • advises trustees of a number of pensions schemes ranging from very small schemes to schemes with about £400m of assets to very large schemes;
  • advises employers (and investors/ parent companies/ shareholders) on pension scheme funding, pension change projects and "moral hazard" risks associated with corporate activity
  • works closely with our Business Support and Restructuring team for example we recently advised an insolvency practioner on responding to a "section 91 notice" from the PPF and we have jointly advised directors on their corporate duties where employers with pension schemes are in financial difficulty;
  • works with the Litigation department where there is a partner who specialises in pensions litigation to deliver seamless advice where litigation expertise is required;
  • works with the corporate and projects departments to advise on corporate restructuring, outsourcing and mergers and acquisitions.
    • The Role We are looking to recruit a Pensions lawyer to join our team and work on a wide variety of pension matters. The role will involve corporate support work, advising scheme trustees and advising corporates. You will be part of a small, cohesive and collegiate team which strives for excellence and exceptional client service. The Team pride themselves as being a busy and high performing but at the same time they have a modern approach to work and are active advocates of the flexible working policy at AG. You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the partners and managing associates on more complex matters. We have a strong reputation for providing associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment. Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role) A successful applicant will need the following skills:
  • A commercial and common sense approach to issues, together with a sound technical understanding of the law
