Are you looking to progress your legal career working within Casualty / Personal InjuryHelp us conducting fee-earning work on defendant injury cases - EL/PL claims here at Markel Law!The Opportunity:Markel Law have an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal to join our casualty legal team based here in our Leeds office. We operate out of offices in Leeds, Manchester, London and Croydon and employ over 60 specialist solicitors. Our legalteams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services. Our Paralegal role will assist with case preparation, legal and administration support tasks.Our casualty team acts for Markel (UK) Ltd, its insureds and also private clients, defending pre and post-litigated employers liability and public liability injury claims.Instructions cover the full spectrum of personal injury civil litigation, from sophisticated and high value multi-track claims, to simple small and fast track matters. Our sector focus is health and social care, and the construction industry.Types of claim we receive instructions on include brain injury and catastrophic loss, assaults, ECHR breaches, fatalities, animal act cases, occupational disease, multi-party construction site claims, chronic pain cases, trips and slips, manual handlingmatters, housing disrepair and occupiers liability claims.With lawyers of all levels being exposed to a wide variety of claims, we can offer real opportunities to expand candidates technical expertise, including support for all available routes to qualification - training contract, SQE, CILEX and Solicitor Apprenticeships.Being a new and rapidly growing team there are excellent opportunities for career progression!What youll be doing:Legal and administrative work on behalf of the Casualty Team based in Leeds.Handling own caseload, under supervision, of small claims, MOJ Stage 3 hearings, Infant Approval Hearings and Pre-Action Applications for Disclosure.Assisting senior colleagues handling fast and multi-track, EL and PL matters.Incepting new files onto our case management system and updating data as the progresses.Collaborating with insurer and insured clients, the DWP, barristers and the court.Preparing court bundles and reviewing documents.Assisting with billing tasks, preparation of management information reports and other general administrative duties.Our Must Haves:Have some relevant legal experience in defendant injury work, and/or relevant legal qualifications - Law Degree, LPC, CILEX etc.Demonstrate first class client care and interpersonal skills.Demonstrate an ability to prioritise their own workload.Have high attention to detail and accurate case management skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Be an effective team mate, demonstrate positive and co-operative interaction with team members.Ideally, have experience using a CMS - we use Partner 4 Windows (P4W).Who We Are:Markel Law LLP is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients.
