Job Description

Kloeckner Metals UK (KMUK’) is the UK subsidiary of Kloeckner and Co, (Kloeckner) the German listed, market-leading, €6.3bn turnover, 8,600 employee, global steel trading and distribution group based in Duisburg, Germany. Kloeckner consistently invests between 15 million and 20 million Euros per year in digitalization of the metals supply chain.The UK business, headquartered in Leeds, operates out of 11 principal locations and employs circa 710 staffWe are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager for our Westok division in LeedsRole Overview:To lead all aspects of the Manufacturing and fabrication effectively whilst maintaining Safety, Quality, Service, Cost & Productivity performance to ensure all key performance objectives are met. The role is critical to the profitable operation of the site & to the success of Westok.Key Responsibilities to Include:

  • Ensures that the processes in the area conform with all EHS requirements & that performance is monitored & activities progressed to improve that performance.
  • Develops & maintains standards relating to the local activities & products. Monitors performance according to the agreed operational KPIs.
  • Liaises with suppliers, customer (internal and external) interaction processes & sales activities to ensure the highest levels of end customer service are achieved.
  • Monitors cost performance & proactively drives cost reduction initiatives. Contributes to achieving cost reduction targets for the site and for KMUK.
  • Ensures that output targets are achieved & exceeded. Drives continuous improvement activities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensures quality assurance procedures are followed & Quality Management issues raised as applicable.
  • Ensures that all employees are effectively managed within the framework of KMUK’s policies & procedures.
  • Ensures that the Company’s legal responsibilities in regard of employment law & environmental, health & safety legislation are fully complied with.
  • Monitors efficiency of operation & drives performance improvement. Ensures KPI’s are kept up to date, initiates & tracks improvement actions.
  • Identify training needs and to help to develop employees.
  • Relevant Experience Required:
  • Structural Steel experience
  • Should have practical knowledge of EHS, be able to conduct Risk Assessments, create Safe Working Practices.
  • Has an understanding of how employment legislation impacts a role involving the supervision of other employees.
  • Has a detailed understanding of product & process quality requirements.
  • Can demonstrate the successful leadership of a Team consistently achieving its objectives.
  • Very good man-management skills
