Mental Health NurseFull-timeAs a Mental Health Nurse in Queen Alexandras Royal Army Nursing Corps, youll help keep soldiers and their families fit and healthy as part of a team working in a diverse range of clinical environments. During your Army Mental Health Nursing application we will advise and support you in making the right career choice for you so that you can realise your true potential.TrainingStep 1 - You join the Army and complete your initial military training.Step 2 - You then complete a short Transition to Military Practice Course, after which you will be assigned to a Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) to commence your preceptorship and rotation programme and begin life as an ArmyMental Health Nurse.JOIN AS A STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH NURSEWe also train our own Mental Health Nurses. You will complete a 3-year degree programme that will give you professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. You will be well supported by military and civilian University staff at the DefenceSchool of Healthcare Education within Birmingham City University and will then be employed as a Registered Nurse by the Army. After successful completion of your Student Nurse Training you will wear the rank of Acting Corporal. Once you are registered as aMental Health Nurse you will be assigned to a department of community mental health (DCMH) where you will be gradually exposed to mental health caseloads and will be provided mentorship during this phase.TrainingStep 1 - You join the Army as a Soldier and complete Phase 1 Training prior to starting your university course.Step 2 - You then complete a short Transition to Military Practice Course, after which you will be assigned to a Defence Medical Group Hospital (DMG) to commence your preceptorship and rotation programme and begin life as an Army Nurse.JOIN WITH A BURSARYWorth up to £42,000. If you are already in your student nurse training or soon to embark on your Adult or Mental health pathway within the NHS with a guaranteed place you could apply for an Army Nursing Bursary. £5,000 for each year of training and on successfulcompletion of your Student nursing course and successfully finishing officer training you will be given a lump sum of £27,000. You will then enter the Army as a Registered Nurse and be assigned to a Defence Medical Group Hospital unit, where you will receivea comprehensive preceptorship package with excellent mentorship from clinical practice educators.GAIN QUALIFICATIONSSupporting Learning and Assessment in Practice (SLAiP) will be the first formal qualification you will be required to complete. You will have the opportunity to specialise in one of a number of areas, including: Primary Health Care (to Advanced practice),Emergency Nursing (to Advanced practice), Critical Care, Burns & Plastics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Sexual Health, General Medicine and General Surgery. Alongside this you will gain significant personal development and development.Become a Mental Health Nurse and youll:- Receive subsidised accommodation and facilities, increasing your disposable income- Receive free medical and dental health cover- Have the continuous access promotional opportunity and to continually progress your career- Be sponsored to earn valuable civilian-recognised qualifications- Take part in Adventurous Training and be able to play your favourite sports.PAY AND BENEFITSMENTAL HEALTH NURSE SOLDIER: Earn £14,931 during initial training. When you complete your military training and join your unit, your pay will rise to £32,076.MENTAL HEALTH NURSE OFFICER: Youll be on an annual salary of £26,903 during your training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, before commissioning on a minimum of £35,744 a year, depending on your experience.STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH NURSE: Earn £14,931 during initial training.
