Job Description

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,800 digital, cyber and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 16 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businessescan unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.About the roleWe are looking for Lead Engineerswho are comfortable solving complex technical issues,whilst supporting and assuring the work of others.The Lead Engineer is a vital and exciting role within the team. As Lead Engineer, your responsibilities will rangebetween Software Engineering and Solution Design. You will be based at our Leeds Engineering Centre, with hybrid working options (on average you will spend 1-2 days per week on site).We are proud of the mission critical systems thatwe build for our customers and we support them in getting the most from Digital Transformation. This may mean building new systems or improving the integration of existing applications.We are looking for engineers who enjoy:

  • elaboratingrequirements into technicalsolutions
  • communicating and helping to set the direction across the development team
  • providingsupport and assurance to other developers
  • contributes to development, tackling the more challenging tasks andunblockingother engineers
About youYou will have strong software engineering skills and thrive on leading and mentoring others.You are an excellent communicator who is able to represent the application and its architectures to senior stakeholders, allowing you to summarise technical detailand considerations to client, business and product stakeholders. You collaborate with the engineering teams at a technical level and you prioritise tech debts bringing them into grooming session supporting prioritisation with the Product Manager.In addition, you will advise on industry best practice and maintains an architecture roadmaps, as well as supporting the development team by providing low-level elaboration of new features.Preferred technologies:
  • Backend: Java orJavaScript using NodeJS
  • Front end: React
  • Engineering / Development experience across chosen technologies with:
  • Experience with soluition design and elaborating customer requirements n
  • Experience providing assurance to a development team -
  • Support and coach development team through complex technical challenges.
You will also have:
  • Experience working in DevOps model with Agile ways of working.
  • Experience with ApplicationDesign
