We are currently supporting the search for a talented Lead Delivery Managers to join their growing teams in either Leeds or London.NHS Digital is the national information and technology provider for the health and care system. Our growing team of 2,700+ information analysis, technology and project management experts create, deliver and manage the crucial digital systems, services, productsand standards upon which health and care professionals depend, working in partnership with both national and local organisations.Our Lead Delivery Managers:

  • are responsible for the delivery of a suite of digital products or services within a portfolio or programme
  • enable teams to work in agile and lean ways, typically products or services delivered by multiple user-centred or software delivery teams
  • support embedding agile tools and techniques, selecting the best methods and creating lasting transformation towards agile & lean ways of working
Were growing and are looking for Lead Delivery Managers to join a number of our directorates and have a range of roles which include:Product Development designs and delivers new applications to help citizens, patients and clinicians including the NHS website, NHS App, NHS login and Digital Urgent and Emergency Care.
  • Lead DM - NHS App - Supporting 16 million users accessing healthcare services on their smartphone or tablet. Help us continue to inform people about their health and care, manage their health and access new digital healthcare tools
  • Lead DM - Urgent and Emergency Care Data - Leading the development, testing and implementation of new standards, specifications, products and services to ensure better flow of information through the UEC system
  • Lead DM - PODAC (Digital Pharmacy, Optometry, Dentistry, Ambulance and Community Care) - Leading the development of IT systems to support NHS services within these sectors. This will include working with existing NHS products and serviceswithin PODAC settings, as well as developing, testing and implementing bespoke standards and products
  • Lead DM - NHS e-Referral Service - Leading delivery of the service that helps patients to choose their first hospital or clinic appointment with a specialist
  • Lead DM - Primary Care Technology - Delivering better GP systems, using shared, open standards, to help unlock the potential of digital technology across the NHS
  • Lead DM - Screening - Delivering improved screening services across the NHS including bowel cancer and breast screening services
Data Services is the data custodian for the health and care system, has primary responsibility for driving data quality, linking data across the system and providing reliable statistics and insights.
  • Lead DM - Data Services Alliance - Running one of the Delivery Management functions within the Alliance. Managing a team of Delivery Managers working in multidisciplinary teams with Lead Engineers, Product Managers and delivery partners
As a Lead Delivery Manager you will:
  • motivate your team to continually learn, improve and innovate, whilst providing coaching, guidance and practical advice
  • take ownership of establishing the right delivery team structure for delivering your portfolio of work
  • work closely with key external stakeholders including the Department of Health & Social Care, NHS England, NHSX, Public Health England and other Health and Social Care organisations
  • manage and support research, testing, deployment and implementation of digital products and services
  • contribute to the on-going development of NHS Digitals Digital Services Delivery Professional Group and our community of Delivery Management specialists.
About The CandidateSome of the skills and experience were looking for:
  • Knowledge of Agile practices, tools, techniques and culture - specifically Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience within user-centred design and development as well as iterative agile software development techniques related to the full product lifecycle
  • Thorough understanding of the importance and user-centred design methods and tools to inform service or product development work and wider business decisions
  • Knowledge of user-centred, iterative agile delivery and related disciplines (including development, testing, comms, change management and project planning)
  • Experience using clear, open and transparent frameworks with a complex delivery team (such as Kanban, Lean or Scrum) and blending them depending on the context
  • Experience using continuous coaching and mentoring approaches
  • Experience of enabling a team to share skill sets across a complex team and/or a portfolio of teams
  • Experience using data to forecast and continually plan sprints and delivery phases (including burndown data, cycle time, cumulative flow, velocity, resolution rates, or planned absence)
