Job Description

Transition Partners currently have an exciting opportunity for a Java Developer/ Engineer to work within our key clients Development Team.Want flexibility in terms of location and working hoursWant to shape the direction of the company you work withWant to utilise a tech-agnostic approach to gain exposure to new technologiesAs a team and part of their company culture, they embrace new ideas and ways of doing things. With a tech-agnostic approach, you will work closely with colleagues to both learn and teach. This will provide you an abundance of opportunities, from workingwith the latest technology to further enhancing your skills and knowledge.Responsibilities will include;

  • Contribute to both technical and ways of working discussions. This helps to deliver the right solution and promotes a culture of continuous improvement in your team.
  • Use TDD and Pair Programming with other members of your team to deliver well designed and tested code.
  • Help promote an environment of collaboration, with values like T-shaping.
  • Upkeep and elaborate user stories and technical tasks.
  • Communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Mentoring junior team members.
  • Reviewing colleagues work positively and constructively.
  • Act as an ambassador, leading by example and promote our approach to software development.
Skills needed;
  • Knowledge of and experience working as a Java Programmer with core Java and functional Java (streams, lambdas etc)
  • Programming skills in designing and implementation of multi-tier applications using web-based technologies like Spring Boot, Play Framework or JHipster
  • Knowledge of Spring Core such as Dependency Injection, configuration with Annotations or XML
  • Experience of handling relational and NoSQL databases in a Java based environment using technologies like JDBC, Spring Data, Hibernate and JPA
  • Logged frameworks and monitored applications
  • An understanding of developing applications with SOAP or RESTful web services
  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms and using continuous integration
  • An appreciation of developing software using TDD
  • Experience working with Agile principles
  • The ability to produce simple, clean code
  • Experience working with multiple programming paradigms such as functional and object orientation
