Job Description

Job overviewAn IT Support Technician is required to assist in the day to day running & maintenance of hardware and software to include, warehouse systems & IT equipment in our Leeds Distribution Centre. These include but are not limited to our Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SSIS, Business Intelligence software (such as Crystal Reports & Power Query/BI), carrier systems and site PCs/Thin Clients. Occasionally, providing remote assistance for our other Distribution hub will also be required.Working in a small IT team you’ll be the first port of call for software and hardware issues. The position offers a good opportunity for personal and professional development.Key responsibilities

  • Being the 1st line contact via phone, email and direct contact for on-site Systems & IT. Trouble shooting, diagnosing and resolving (based on knowledge) technical issues.
  • Managing user liaison & provide pro-active feedback and user queries from initial contact to resolution.
  • Act as the escalation point for internal service issues (software & hardware) assistance and maintenance of EDI & integration with our Warehouse Management System.
  • To be responsible for other warehouse systems assistance and maintenance such as carrier systems & bespoke customer software.
  • To provide onsite and remote hardware & network support, particularly for RF guns and warehouse printers.
  • To provide ODBC queries/reporting for the warehouse. Report creation and maintenance will be required to provide efficient processes with reports, manifests etc. Reports will provide business data for the management team and warehouse users.
  • To help identify and implement system improvements to the existing warehouse operation, that may be bespoke modifications to existing warehouse systems, new reporting needs or changes to existing processes.
  • To liaise closely with the Warehouse Administration team, Warehouse Team Leaders, Warehouse Management team and the IT team.
  • Qualifications/Skills required
  • Previous experience of working a IT Support and/or helpdesk role (Microsoft based IT environment)
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and Software
  • Proficient with MS Query or equivalent, Excel and Outlook
  • High levels of personal resilience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills
  • A flexible approach to tasks and problem solving
  • GCSE English & Math B or above
  • Skills desired but not essential
  • Experience with mobile device/Scanner management
  • Experience with label management software
  • Previous WMS/ERP experience would be an advantage
  • Crystal reportsMicrosoft QuerySQL
