Job Description

Closing date: 4 December 2020 About the programme Here at Highways England, we manage one of the world’s most advanced road networks. We want to connect our country to benefit our economy, business and our customers.Join us as an Internal Audit Apprentice (IT) to develop your knowledge, skills and competence to follow a career to help us to ensure that governance, risk management and internal control mechanisms are operating effectively across the business. You will help us deliver our annual corporate assurance programme.During this 2-year programme, you will assist in the planning, fieldwork and reporting of the IT audit programme. Our key client is the company’s IT directorate and you will have the opportunity to look across the breadth of IT and discover its importance to Highways England.You will also be able to expand your audit experience by working with our internal audit team who focus on the wider businesses financial and business controls and will have the opportunity to work alongside other core assurance teams who operate in the project, safety, risk and counter-fraud areas.Our Division prides itself on the delivery of a quality service to the business that adds value to their working practices and helps them to achieve the strategic outcomes of the business.This role will start in February 2021. About you Together with some experience of IT, gained during your education, we ask that you hold the following:

  • You must hold a minimum of five GCSEs (including English and maths, at grade C/grade 4 or above) and
  • Level 3 qualification, which can include A levels, NVQ, and BTEC / or relevant experience
  • You’ll evidence the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • You’ll evidence the ability to work to timescales, prioritising where necessary
  • You’ll evidence the ability to give and receive information effectively
  • You’ll evidence the ability to write clearly and concisely
  • You’ll evidence your desire and passion to pursue a career within Highways England
