Hourly PA / Graduate / Support Worker for University Student in Leeds/YorkAskJules are agents for young disabled adults who choose to employ Personal Assistants to provide their care and support.Hourly PA for a student attending the University of York. Commuting from Leeds.Start: ASAPHours: Days & WeekendsLocation: LeedsPay: £15 per hourHolidays: 5.6 weeks annual leave, pro rata. We are recruiting a team of PA’s on behalf of our client, a 19 Year Old, first year University Student who is studying Human Geography at York St John University. He is looking for a team of PA’s to enable him to be as independent as possible. He lives with a condition called Muscular Dystrophy and will require support with certain aspects of his life - Personal Care, and Day to Day support in his home and at University. He relies on a Power Wheelchair day-to-day, and requires the PA’s to be therewhen necessary to support him.Our client takes a large interest in Railways, History and enjoys playing Video Games. Due to his University Course, residential trips are a common occurrence, so he would be looking for someone to join him overnight and enjoy the trips, whilst he carrieson his University life.As stated by the client .."I have Muscular Dystrophy which means I rely on a power wheelchair to go about my daily business. It also means certain parts of my body have locked into a fixed position so for example, I can’t reach the top of my head with my arms, nor stretch veryfar in front of me to reach something as one normally could. Lastly, it has resulted in me having a fixed neck (that came about during prolonged stillness during back surgery for my fixed rod) which means I appear to be always looking into space (it’s notthat interesting up there) therefore to correct this I have to lean forward. A good way to visualize me is to imagine that The Thinker’ statue, I’d be the modern equivalent, I’m already mostly there on the statue element. For me as a person, my hobbies include railways and history. Both subjects I find really interesting, especially railways. I enjoy visiting places such as the NRM, Robin Hoods Bay, and Fountains Abbey. I also enjoy playing video games too. I don’t like writing about personality because I never know what to put or don’t want to big myself up, nevertheless, I consider myself to be good-humored and down to Earth on most matters."About the job:"The ideal candidate will be responsible, confident and sociable. I need help getting to and from the university and getting on/off the train. Thankfully the train guards are really good at helping, they just need someone to tell them I am there and wantto get on which can be hard for me on my own because there has been a few occasions when they were inside the train and didn’t see me.I also need someone who doesn’t mind helping me on a weekend as sometimes I need help getting up in the morning or doing tasks when nobody is there to help.I must also mention I have a dog and cats, who although are friendly, I appreciate some people don’t like one or the other due to allergies etc."About you:
