This means that we will work to make sure children, young people and their families have a better start and timely support. We will do more to keep people well with proactive care in the community. We will work to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made so that wider NHS services support, listen to, and help improve the health and well-being of children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and or autism and their families. By doing so, we will drive improvements for all and take effective widespread action on the causes of preventable deaths that contribute to those with a learning disability and or autism dying earlier than the general population. The learning from deaths mortality review (LeDeR) is a service improvement programme which aims to understand the causes of premature and preventable mortality for people with a learning disability and enable action from learning both locally and nationally to ensure that there is an reduction in health inequalities for people with a learning disability. This is an exciting time for the LeDeR Programme. The publication of the NHS Long Term Plan committed us to deliver LeDeR for at least the next three years and we have a challenging range of actions to deliver to ensure that we make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability.Over the coming months the programme will see the delivery and implementation of a new LeDeR web based platform, and associated set of training materials and guidance on how to complete reviews and working with a wide range of stakeholders our policy going forward. We are also procuring a new independent academic partner to the programme form June 2021. In addition to this the team will be producing the next annual action form learning report, collating and sharing good practice from across the country and ensuring that we do all we can to support CCGs to complete reviews within 6 months.Due to the politically sensitive nature of the LeDeR workstream, excellent leadership and briefing skills are required alongside experience of delivering high profile, politically sensitive projects. You will need to have highly developed communication skills and be used to working with high profile leaders as a regular facet of your professional work. You will play a lead role in driving forward the next phase of this work and be responsible for the ongoing development of improved NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) LeDeR governance, reporting and assurance measures regarding delivery of the project, including the related deliverables as set out in the NHS Long – Term Plan. You will have good, current knowledge of the current LeDeR process and approach and be familiar with how reviews are conducted and the challenges LeDeR faces. The role will have a strong focus in contract managing the new academic partner to take learning and outcomes into the health and social care landscape, to support successful delivery knowledge and understanding of new and emerging local care systems is essential. You will need to have a strong understanding of project and programme management, having delivered high profile programmes in the past, along with excellent organisation skills, commissioning experience and ability to work with different organisations and professional disciplines to be successful in this role. This is a substantive post with an expected start date of April 2021.For further details / informal visits contact:Name: Nicola EaseyJob title: Head of Health ImprovementEmail address:
