Job Description

Head of Data EngineeringUp to £110,000 per annumLocation - Cardiff, Wales (attend office once every second week)We have a fantastic new opportunity for a head of data engineering at a large national insurance company.The CompanyThis company is a large national insurance company that offers a variety of insurance cover and is an internationally recognised brand.Roles and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing pipelines that are going onto GCP, delivering the strategic element
    • Data pipelines - understanding those terms and principles for delivery on scale
  • Responsible for tech leadership across the whole of the Data and Analytics team
  • Heavily involved in TDA (topological data analysis) making it saleable. Also, governance and change advisory to ensure delivery effectively
Skills
  • Worked with a combination of cloud-based big data technologies (e.g., HDFS, Spark, Python, Airflow, Beam, Pub Sub, Kafka, Nifi) and (OLTP and Data warehousing) within SQL, NoSQL and other RDBMSs
  • Methodological, logical, and flexible approach, to have gained significant experience as a technical lead
  • Extensive Data modeling experience
  • Building design blueprints
  • Up-to-date knowledge of business intelligence domain
  • Good understanding of software development best practices
