Job Description

Graduate Trainee BuyerSalary 24kLeeds LS10, West Yorkshiredriving license requiredPermanent Full TimeOur client, based on the outskirts of Leeds, has been established 25 years and is the market leader in the manufacture of furniture for the Hospitality Industry. They manufacture and fit out Hotels with bespoke furniture for clients such as Hilton, Sheraton,IHG, Marriott & Hard Rock.The company operates within a dynamic and fast paced environment & the business is experiencing great growth. They are looking for an ambitious graduate to join the buying department.Job PurposeThe Graduate Trainee Buyer will be responsible for buying a range of services within the company and managing new and existing suppliers.Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist Head of Purchasing with resourcing process
  • Ordering materials for factory production on daily basis
  • Negotiate prices and terms for existing stock ranges and new products
  • Source products from existing and new suppliers
  • Ensure products procured meet required QA requirements and are certified appropriately
  • Manage the critical path ensuring all orders are arriving on time
  • Chasing up overdue orders
  • Deal with supply chain issues as they arise
  • Ensure that a supplier database is maintained with up to date details, product information and pricing
  • Forecasting stock requirements and placing orders to ensure stock levels are maintained
  • Monitor inventory levels and re-ordering accordingly and in line with demand
Skills & qualifications
  • Educated to degree level (does not need to be buying specific)
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, work on own initiative and identify, analyse and solve problems.
  • Persuasive & Commercially Astute
  • Previous buying experience would be an advantage but not essential
  • Appreciation of the need to get the job done on time and to the correct standard
  • IT Literate - particularly Excel
  • CIPS qualification would be an advantage
  • Excellent communicator both with internal and external customers
