Job Description

An exciting Formal Buyer opportunity has arisen in a well established formal retailer due to current and long term expansion plans. This role is for a Junior Buyer / Buyer / Senior Buyer who has either specific tailoring knowledge or knowledge in shirts,trousers or formal jackets. As part of the opportunity you will have full autonomy to create and delivery exclusive own brand ranges which can compete with other luxury brands within the UK market.Client DetailsMy client, based in Leeds, are an well known and established company within the luxury and formal sector offering their exclusive ranges through multiple channels including online, retail and wholesale. This multi-channel business model, enables multiplerevenue streams and increases product awareness across the UK and Europe. The company is very product development heavy and to succeed you must have a strong attention to detail.DescriptionAs a Formal Buyer you will be responsible for:

  • End to End product development, from initial concept through to delivery
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Have a good understanding of the product and brand handwriting
  • Have knowledge of relevant fabrics and garment designs
  • Have an ability to create high quality own brand ranges
  • Have an ability to select other competitor pieces which complement the own brand ranges to sit alongside in the high street stores
  • Communicate effectively with retail, online and wholesale teams
  • Manage suppliers effectively and confidently negotiate prices
  • Report into the Head of Buying, presenting all exclusive ranges at sign offs, which offer both creative flair and meet strong commercials
  • Responsible for the development of an Assistant Buyer
ProfileThe successful Formal Buyer will:
  • Have previous experience in Tailoring, Shirts, Jackets or Trousers
  • Have a strong attention to detail
  • A confident negotiator
  • Strong communication skills both internally and externally
  • Strong commercial knowledge
  • Ability to trade effectively
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines
  • Effectively manage work load and availability in line with seasons and wider business events/ promotions
  • Team player
  • Previous management experience
