Job Description

Fire Alarm Engineer - LeedsAlecto Recruitment Ltd are on the lookout for an experienced Fire Protection Engineer based around Leeds, who will be covering the North West and North East. Our client are specialists within Fire and Security, and the need an Engineer who specialises within Fire Alarms. .The job involves:

  • Installation of electrical components, equipment or systems. Position equipmentusing hand tools, power tools or heavy equipment.
  • To explain use of products or services to customers
  • To test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
  • To feed cables through access holes, roof spaces or cavity walls to reach fixtureoutlets, positioning and termination cables, wires or strapping.
  • To inspect equipment to locate or identify electrical problems.
  • To test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens or other security features toensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions.
  • To drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings or floors.
  • To determine types of equipment, tools or materials needed for jobs and to plan work procedures.
  • To prepare documents, such as dockets.
  • To consult with customers or users to assess problems.
  • To run wiring to connect equipment.
  • To adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • To be available to participate in the Companys on call rota in line with the agreed rota in force.
  • To take ownership of customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution
  • To researching, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve system issues
  • To follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.
  • To take responsibility for unresolved client issues.
  • To manage & take responsibility for own vehicle stock.
  • To sell defective parts and additional services to clients.
  • To attend identified training.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your career but you will need to meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for the role. We expect you to have:
  • Autonomous worker who does not require handholding
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with all site trades and office-based professionals, up to and including director level.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good level of numeracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills including being competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience Engineering in Fire Prevention and protection systems
  • FIA Qualifications highly advantageous but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of Gent Fire Systems would be good
  • Ideally Electrically qualified but not essential
  • Full UK Driving License required
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in technology and be looking to learn and progress their career. Our client provide on going training on and off site.You Can Look Forward To
  • £28,000 - £34,000 basic salary depending on experience
