Job Description

Gifford and Partners are engaged in appointing a key new position into a business that has seen unprecedented growth and drive across the Group and is now ready to position this new role as Risk & Compliance Finance Manager. This role is not only to shapeand develop the financial reporting and compliance agenda but will also manage a team and oversee the management accounting. It will provide rigour and ensure a consistent approach whilst supporting and guiding the group as it embarks on this key phase ofits journey. It will provide stewardship and ownership of the groups regulatory obligations and legal requirements along the way.Further to the management of risk and embedding the culture of best practice, this role will play a key part in the organisations leadership team whilst also managing reporting staff. It will ensure effective financial control and deliver accurate and robustmanagement reporting. It is important that you are able to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels, ensuring a partnership approach is taken (whilst maintaining independence) so that key issues are escalated, and any issues resolvedon a timely basis.Key to this role will be managing regulatory and business risk, whilst other responsibilities will include and not be limited to:

  • Working with team colleagues to ensure that all emerging regulation/law is identified, captured, and assessed for business impact across all areas.
  • Propose changes and act on the delivery and implementation to process and practice where necessary and communicate the changes to the wider business as necessary.
  • Act as a contact point for day-to-day business risk matters.
  • Deliver both management and statutory accounts.
  • Manage and oversee compliance with external advisors (auditors, HMRC/SAO, Lawyers) and internal partners (Group Finance, Management/board) including Data Protection obligations.
Essentially, this role requires a post-qualified ACA/ACCA likely trained with a top10 firm of chartered accountants. Academically, this role desires a 2:1 or above graduate with excellent technical grounding and exposure to UK GAAP / FRS102. Ideally to supportthis role you will have a good understanding of tax, customs and excise duty, and employment taxation although not as a prerequisite. Strong knowledge and experience of the UK Retail, Manufacturing/FMCG would be ideal but again, not essential.Sure there is a big list of preferences, but the bottom line to the success of this role is personality, stakeholder engagement, and the want to change and evolve things for the better!
