Job Description

Finance ManagerIdeally 2 days per week with flexibility at times to work 3 daysLeeds Based LS6Salary depending on experienceThis role is to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the charitys finances in conjunction with the charitys treasurer.To apply for this role, it is essential you have -

  • Qualification to act as a finance officer by experience or by formal qualification
  • Previous experience in acting as a finance officer in an organisation
  • Previous experience in accounting software systems, but not necessarily Xero Accounting Software
The Role
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain effective accounting systems using Xero software, supported by training from specialist external support. To be responsible for the accounting function.
  • Undertake day to day recording of financial transactions on the accounting software
  • Comply with internal financial control procedures
  • Ensure all income and expenditure transactions are coded to the correct nominal codes and departmental codes
  • Prepare budgets and financial management reports covering income and expenditure, balance sheet and the cash flow statement, with support from the charitys treasurer, for consideration by the Trustees of the charity.
  • Monitor and maintain budgets - produce monthly budget reports and circulate to the Board of Trustees as required .
  • Prepare for annual Audit and work collaboratively with Audit team to ensure compliance and timeliness for Charities Commission and Companies House .
  • Report any concerns to the Treasurer and Manager and meet with the Treasurer & Manager to carry out cash and bank check procedures as required
  • Monitor bank statements weekly and prepare month end bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with senior staff and signatories to obtain authorisation of expenditure
  • Monitor the bank statements and the administrative records to ensure that all payments of housing benefit are received by the charity
  • Payroll - administer monthly pay. Collate timesheets and submit analysed data to the outsourced payroll providers, acting as a point of contact. Make payments to HMRC, the courts or any other third party
  • Consideration of payroll responsibility and to take over administration for this on xero accounting as appropriate
  • Supervision and oversight of Finance Officer, delegation of relevant duties and tasks as required.
  • Administer the West Yorkshire pension Fund and the Peoples Pension and make the necessary monthly payments and adjustments as required .
  • Record and account for petty cash transactions
  • Attend all training courses as required for skills and personal development .
