Job Description

THE COMPANY:Brewster Partners are working closely with a fabulous charity who are looking to recruit a Finance and Operations manager to join their enthusiastic team.Based in the heart of the city centre, this charity aims to support communities across Leeds and Bradford to create positive changes and address challenges.THE JOB:This is a full-time position offering hybrid working, 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.As the Finance and Operations Manager your responsibilities will include working with the Senior Leadership Team and Management Team, overseeing the day to day workload of the finance function, and having operational responsibility for IT and systems, healthand safety and office contracts. This is a new role which you have the opportunity to shape and develop.

  • Work with the leadership team to produce accurate annual budgets and annual reforecasts of the longer term financial plan
  • Prepare the Annual Report and Financial Statements in accordance with the Charity SORP and FRS 102, including a full and complete audit file and being the main contact for our auditors
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly management accounts, including full reforecast and commentary on variances against prior forecast and budget.
  • Manage the IT contract with our external provider, acting as the first point of contact for the staff team, managing contracts, purchasing and servicing of IT hardware and software
  • Identify and support the development, delivery and implementation of business and systems improvements across finance and other processes
  • Implement and regularly review data security policies to ensure cyber security, data protections and legal compliance
  • Review and approve quarterly management accounts, reconciliations across the charities trial balances, bi-monthly accounts payable and grant payment runs.
  • Prepare reports for the Programmes and Development teams; preparing dashboards to show progress against targets.
  • Maintenance and review of the fund structure within financial system and CRM
  • Cash management
  • Staff management of Senior Finance Officer
  • Oversee investment reporting process, liaise with investment managers where required and maintain mandates.
THE PERSON:The right candidate for this position will be a driven, enthusiastic and passionate professional who will ensure financial and operational activities are carried out enabling the organisation to achieve their charitable objectives. They will be able to communicateeffectively, manage a busy, varied workload and have a good understanding of charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises.Furthermore, the candidate will have experience in the following:
  • Minimum accounting qualification of AAT Level 4, preferably at least part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA
  • Experience of accounting software (essential), Sage (desirable)
  • Experience of working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office, with advanced IT skills and experience of Excel
  • Knowledge of charity finance or multiple fund / department accounting
  • IT admin and systems experience, working with an external IT support provider
  • Knowledge of Cyber Essentials (desirable),
  • Experience of operational systems and processes including project and change management
  • Knowledge of VAT applicable to charity contracts and partial exemption rules
  • Prior experience of working with a board of trustees or understanding of governance issues (desirable)
