Job Description

Role Driver Waste ManagementPAYE pay rate of £10.41Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in West Yorkshire, with around 33,000 employees based over multiple sites. Reed Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds City Council providing them with all of their temporary staffingneeds.Reed currently have a number of excellent opportunities available to work within Leeds City Council as a DriverWaste ManagementRole Driver Waste ManagementPAYE pay rate of £10.41.Job Purpose & Context:To be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and reliable waste and recycling collection service for the Household Waste Sites which meets the needs of the citizens of Leeds.Accountabilities:

  • Drive an allocated vehicle safely
  • Answer queries from the public in a polite and courteous manner
  • Undertake vehicle checks and safe maintenance of allocated vehicle
  • When not driving, assist recycling assistants in the collection and sorting of materials handled at the Household Waste Recycling Sites across Leeds
Skills & experience:Essential
  • Driving and manoeuvring rigid demountable-bodied vehicles and operating auto sheeting mechanisms
  • Understand and follow daily work patterns and verbal or written instructions
  • Team working
  • Identify and report vehicle defects
  • Use mobile phones and in-cab technology
  • Learn new information quickly and follow instructions
  • Drive HGV vehicles
  • Communication and customer service skills
Desirable
  • Off-road driving
  • ADR regulations
  • Working in a similar environment
  • Operating manual/ mechanical equipment
Qualifications/Training:Essential
  • LGV Licence Class C (equivalent to HGV Class 2)
  • Knowledge of the Highway Code
