Location: Hybrid/LeedsCompany: CDS UK (part of Bailie Group)Job type: PermanentReports to: Operations Director, Digital, Insight & ContentAbout the RoleAs a result of continued agency growth CDS are now looking for an experienced Data Services Director to lead and build our data services capability and proposition.Data services is a new team for CDS and although we are incredibly adept at managing and architecting complex data, we are for the first time building a dedicated team to develop our data services proposition.Leading a small team of architects, BI developers and DevOps DBAs, you will take the lead in responding to, shaping, and delivering a range of data services engagements ranging from data landscaping to designing and building BI solutions for complex organisations.Responsible for developing our data services ethos, processes and overall approach, you will coach and develop your own team and the wider agency to deliver exemplar data services across a wide range of client needs and requirements.ResponsibilitiesActing as a member of the agency senior management team, this role will be integral to educating and solidifying our data services team. In particular, your areas of focus and contribution will be:

• Services development - building a suite of data services and associated processes to provide a first in class data capability
• Agency collaboration - collaborating with subject matter experts across the agency, lead and shape responses to client briefs, solve problems and think proactively about how to position CDS expertise, knowledge and capability
• Operations - leading a small team and drawing on subject matter expertise across the agency, introduce rigour and professionalism to the data services team, developing and educating people along the way to build an integrated approach todelivering against data requirements
• People - have a strong focus on developing knowledge across peers and the wider SME group, building relationships based on openness, trust and reliability. Be seen as the go-to person for advice and support on all things consulting.
• Leadership - take the lead in data services discovery and delivery, ensuring that clients are delighted and the broader team are onboard and contributing effectively. Operate in a collaborative, advisory capacity whilst instilling confidence.
• Performance - build the profile of the data team, focusing on revenue generation, quality delivery and a joined-up approach across the agency.
• Growth -the Data Services Director to be results driven, detail orientated, ambitious and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaboration - work together with the Technical Director to align thinking and approaches to solve data challenges.
• Inquisitive - look ahead, explore the horizon of data services and recommend new services or approaches to ensure that we are always delivering relevance and quality.

Job Requirements

• Significant data related experience, ideally technically focused either as a data architect or similar.
• Previous experience in a Strategic Communications, Digital or Tech agency
• Alignment and knowledge of Microsoft database technologies, BI tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy and Tableau and experience of or involvement in data management and data architecture
• Demonstrable experience of building and leading high performing teams
• Demonstrable experience of defining, building and growing a data proposition both operationally and financially
• Demonstrable experience of building relationships at C-suite CDO, CCO, CMO etc and influencing their decision making
• A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the competence to network effectively both internally and externally
• Empathetic and able to articulate a complex / sensitive pitch to a diverse stakeholder audience
• Good at information gathering and information management
• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated, autonomous, creative and able to work to deadlines
• Naturally inquisitive, adventurous and a desire to challenge the status quo
