Job Description

We have an opportunity for a data and information analyst to join our client NHS Digital. These are long-term temporary roles to start asapIf you have experience of working within data/information analysis or recently graduated in a course which frequently required data/information analysis this may be the role for youThese roles offer great progression opportunities once established within the team

  • Location: Leeds City Centre, LS1
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid working 1 to 2 days in the office a week
  • Hours: Monday- Friday 37.5 hours a week - flexible hours between 8-6
  • Assignment length: 6 months (most likely be extended subject to business requirements), permanent opportunities may arise as well
  • Salary: £13.12 per hour (£25,584 annually)
The client:NHS Digital are the national information and technology partner to the health and social care system using digital technology to transform the NHS and social care.The role:The Data & Insight Analyst supports the management and analysis of data across its full lifecycle, from initial receipt and preparation of the data asset through to analysis and interpretation of the data to support publication. Working as part of multi-disciplinaryteams alongside colleagues from across Information, Analysis & Statistics and Data Management, the role holder will ensure that data are handled in an efficient and secure way in line with information governance legislation.The successful candidate will:
  • Be able to understand and interpret results from complex or novel analysis, apply the results to the given problem and suggest conclusions to be drawn
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to choose content and style to suit the audience
  • Able to present and explain results of analysis via written and verbal communication
  • Able to work within a team under guidance from senior colleagues
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as a member of a team
  • Able to proactively manage and prioritise own workload with assistance from manager
  • Able to learn new tools and applications for use in day to day role.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of databases including database interrogation tools. Knowledge of joining tables in databases, relational databases
  • Good working knowledge of spreadsheets, with experience of making use of their wider functionality, e.g. formulae, interrogation tools.
Desired Skills and experience:
  • You will have experience of presenting and explaining through written and verbal communication in a style that translates technical detail into user friendly, accessible plain English that can be understood by all audiences.
  • Experience of having discussions with customers (internal and external) to clarify or define customer specifications.
  • Can easily interpret the quality of data through proactive identification of poor data quality and propose appropriate solutions
  • Can analyse and interpret raw data, create appropriate measures of performance, value-added analysis and summarise the results

  • Microsoft Excel - Working knowledge of basic and some advanced formulas and features ie. sumifs, countifs, vlookups, pivot tables, charts etc
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Outlook
Experience of the following (Minimum of one is essential)
  • SQL (with understanding of joining tables and query building)
  • SAS Enterprise Guide
  • Python
  • Jupyter Notebooks
  • Databricks

Qualifications:
  • Degree level qualification in an IT or numerate related subject or equivalent qualification/experience
