Job Description

Data EngineersLeeds or York£35,000 - £55,000This role sits in the Development team; integral to the business in designing, developing, and maintaining industry leading data and big/complex data solutions, using the latest cloud computing technologies and methods.The Role

  • Design, build and deployment of solutions within the Central Data Platform.
  • Working with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
  • Offer support with data analytic platforms (e.g., PowerBI, Azure Analysis Services).
  • Assembling large and complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Keeping data segregated, managed and secure across environments & services.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure big data’ technologies.
  • Build analytics tools that use the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
  • Translating business needs into technical specifications.
  • Where needed, advising and consulting with clients on their data processing and storage methods to enable best practice analytics both client side and in-house.
    • The Candidate
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with a variety of databases (both OLTP and OLAP.
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines (Databricks), architectures and data sets.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience building processes to support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong data modelling and preparation for analysis expertise (SSAS Analysis, OLAP etc).
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI / Azure technologies.
  • Proven experience in a comparable role.
  • Experience of working effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment as well as independently, exercising a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure - can multitask and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Drive, commitment, and a desire to progress and learn.
  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Degree or higher in a relevant subject (desirable).
