Job Description

Job AdvertThe Data Team within Asda Technology have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team as a Business Engagement Manager (BEM). This BEM will be aligned to one or more of our Business Towers (e.g. Commercial, Supply, Retail etc) and provide our businesscustomers with a single point of contact to the data team, ensuring they are kept informed and able to have regular, consistent contact with the team.This role will report to the Senior Data Business Engagement Manager and will work alongside other BEMs assigned to other Towers in Data.Your RoleAct as Business Lead for your Tower(s) within Data:

  • Be the contact/entry point for the Business and Senior stakeholders for all things Data (information, updates or escalations); triaging requests to the relevant area within the data team
  • Be emersed and involved in the Business overall strategy and direction. Work with the Business to produce a Data roadmap for the Tower which is regularly reviewed and updated
  • Have oversight and understanding of all delivery activity in the Tower, including all in-flight projects, Walmart separation workstreams and pre-project pipeline
  • Lead the pre-project activities within the Tower; following the right governance processes with the Business and key Data stakeholders, and ensuring activity is handed over to Squads with a clear business case, funding and resource plan
  • Own the prioritisation of Data activity and demand within the Tower, by working with the Business to regularly review in-flight/pipeline work to make sure resources are working on the right things at the right time
  • Create and implement the Business engagement strategy for the Tower, ensuring the right meetings are in with the right people, that regular updates are given to stakeholders and that activity is visible and understood by the relevant stakeholders
  • Represent the Tower in regular and ad hoc meetings, such as Tower Steering Meetings or working groups. This will involve coordinating updates from other Tower resources such as Project Managers or Delivery Managers
  • Work with other Leads across the Tower and Data, to ensure consistency, visibility, and alignment across the team
  • This role may also include some line management
About You
  • Great relationship management, networking and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • Proactive with strong organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple things concurrently
  • Experience of project lifecycles and creating plans
  • Good understanding of data and how it can be used, including reporting tools
  • Preferred: Some business analysis skills
