Do you have SQL experience along with great data, reporting, MI & Analytical skills The Markel National Markets UK Innovation & Change Team, based in Leeds, are rapidly expanding and are looking to hire a Data Analyst to help the business make data led informed decisions. The team is relatively new but growing and evolving, so we need someone who can be flexible and adaptable and able to support other projects, both short and long-term.What youll be doing:Monitor/audit data quality & integrity and deduce vital data-fix correctionsWork closely with, and provide support to, IT to ensure bug-fixes deliver the required data confidenceFilter and clean data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to locate and data anomalies / problemsProvide consultative advice on the implementation of databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other process / procedures or strategies to optimise data efficiency and qualityMine and analyse large datasets to interpret trends or patterns and present them successfully to management using an appropriate reporting toolLiaise with internal and external partners to fully understand data contentGather, understand and document detailed business requirements using appropriate tools and techniquesCreate spreadsheets, data dashboards, graphs and visualisations to convey a data-lead storyLocate and define new process improvement opportunities (automation and simplification) in order to increase reporting efficiencyOur Must Haves:SQL data extraction, collation and analysis is essentialWriting complex SQL queriesExcellent problem solving and analytical skills able to drive insights out of dataPreparation of regular reports in multiple formats for different audiences / usesBe able to communicate clearly, especially taking complex data and turning this into easily used and easily understood information for use by colleagues and other partnersBeing able to create influence and get along easily with colleagues often with whom most contact will be by telephone, email or video conferencingBe flexible enough to be integral to a small team whilst collaborating with a large number of colleagues across a wider businessOur Nice To Haves:Knowledge of the Insurance sectorExperience of Power BIExperience of T-SQL and Sequel Server Management Studio (SSMS)Database design / utilisationWho We Are:Markel Corporation (NYSE - MKL) a fortune 500 company with over 60 offices in 20+ countries, is a holding company for insurance, reinsurance, specialist advisory and investment operations around the world.In each of our businesses, we seek to deliver innovative products and adaptable customer service so that we can be a market leader.
