Job Description

A great opportunity for a support worker has arisen in LS17, with a flexible shift pattern covering weekends only. If you have 6 months working in a care environment, then this role could be ideal for you!Location: LS17Hours: Weekends, 11am – 5pm, Flexible PatternSalary: CompetitiveReed Community Care are looking for people who are highly personable and empathetic to provide care for a female in need of assistance and company. You would be making a large difference in her life, enabling her to live more independently whilst providing care and support as needed.What we are looking for:

  • Someone with 6 months experience working in a Support Worker capacity.
  • A motivated, hardworking, and compassionate person.
  • A desire to make a real difference.
  • Someone who has a caring disposition and willingness to interact with someone who is mute.
  • Your main duties would be:
  • Providing personal care and supporting with day-to-day tasks, as well as offering mental and physical support.
  • PEG feeding – experience desired, but training is given.
  • Promote independence through genuine interaction and support, such as using sensory toys/objects and engaging with her.
  • Deliver social and personal care utilising a person-centred approach which is tailored to her individual needs and desires.
  • Maintain a safe environment through the utilisation of support plans and person-centred risk assessments.
  • Respect the confidential nature of the work.
  • Value her wellbeing and safeguard from abuse, ensure that any safeguarding concerns are reported.
  • Facilitate her on outings, such as visits into the local towns, window-shopping, trips to Eureka (where permitted) and going swimming – the ability to swim would be beneficial but is not required.
  • Be aware of her location and surroundings, especially when out and about, to ensure her safety due to her curious disposition.
  • It is vital that her carers understand that though she is non-verbal this does not mean she cannot be communicated with. Interaction, sensory engagement, and activities provide a lot of mental stimulation and enjoyment for her.Why work with Reed
