Job Description

Can be located in Leeds, Birmingham or Manchester.Our client is seeking to a client development advisor to join their dynamic global Business Development team. Your role will be to develop and implement strategic business plans to increase the quality and effectiveness of BD & marketing campaigns for thisvital business area of the firm. This is a full mix business development role where you will drive the business development objectives.The role will focus on the profitable development and growth of clients in UK Liability Defence across the regional network of 11 offices, and internationally where applicable.This will involve business planning, pipeline management, research & analysis, advising and coaching partners, bids work, leading steering groups in their meetings, and some client feedback as well as account management. The role will also involve the managementof a more junior BD specialist.You will be required to operate strategically, suggesting new and innovative ideas but with a hands-on approach as well to ensure that all initiatives are implemented resourcefully and correctly.You will be managing the Client Development Executive, who will be supporting you and the Client Development Manager.Some travel across our regional office network will be required.The role:

  • Work with key practice groups within the firm responsible for defending personal injury claims (generally within the Liability Defence Group) to influence and advise them on their BD activities and client development opportunities.
  • Work with the Marketing Communications team to develop new ideas and ensure BD and marketing plans and initiatives are delivered in a planned, professional and proactive way.
  • Proactively track and target revenue and client relationships through analysing financial, matter and relationship data. Present trends and findings to the Liability Defence Groups product group leaders on a quarterly basis.
  • Work with key practice areas on developing targeted client development programmes for new and existing business opportunities which contribute to the firms profitable growth in key markets.
  • Attend practice/industry group meetings to give account of business development activity across the firm and to devise new initiatives.
  • Provide account management support to client leaders and help to shape and implement a tailored CRM programme for a small number of clients, in line with the firms key account management approach.
  • Monitor competitor activity and spot opportunities for growth
The person:
  • BD experience in a legal firm or insurance company
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects and negotiate deadlines
  • Business benefit and results focused
  • Service delivery focused
  • Strong research, effective business writing and communications skills
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of Excel spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint
