Job Description

Role: Category BuyerLocation: Leeds, LS17 8TX - Hybrid Working AvailableContract: Full-Time Hours / PermanentSalary: up to £40,000 dependent on experienceRole Overview:Our Buying Team is expanding and we are looking for an efficient Category Buyer to join us! In this role, you will provide dedicated support by effectively managing key categories across multi-sites level.You will collaborate with various departments and work hand in hand with the Senior Buyer. This is the perfect opportunity to step up your career in the food-buying sector!We are looking for an energetic buyer to join our Procurement Team, with scope to move to the next step and expand your knowledge. This is the perfect opportunity for a commercial minded individual who is able to build strong relationships, negotiate andproduce market forecasts.This a full-time position with Hybrid Working available - 1 day in our Leeds office per week and 1 day a week in one of our bakeries nearest to you (Hull, Scarborough or Durham).What would my main responsibilities be Maintaining key supplier relationships & identify new suppliers

  • Review stock levels, forecasts, and sales
  • Collate & prepare reports providing analysis and market information
  • Working with NPD and Commercial teams to source ingredients and raw materials fit for purpose at the best possible price whilst considering security of supply
  • Drive cost savings through both sourcing, negotiation, and value engineering
  • Liaising with production and key stakeholders to communicate any potential supply issues
  • Set and manage your category strategy to support the business plan and long-term ambitions
  • Negotiate best possible pricing both on a contract and spot buy basis including discount structures and volume rebates and monitor progress
  • Ensure all materials are sourced in line with regulatory, ethical, technical, and customer needs

  • Commercially minded, a confident self-starter with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable managing your own suppliers
  • IT literate, specifically good Excel skills
  • Self-motivated to manage and prioritize key projects & timelines
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Forward thinking and ability to look at the bigger picture
  • A drivers license and the flexibility to travel to other UK sites
  • Flexibility to travel for work purposes according to business needs
