Job Description

Role - Business AnalystLocation London Leeds EdinburghSalary + Bens London12 month FTCThe Department The Change Directorate leads change and transformation at the FCA. The changes we embed are essential to achieving the organisations strategic outcomes, including our ambition to become a more data-led regulator and to improve how the UK financial sectoris regulated.The Change Directorate is made up of three Change Departments, which each partner with different FCA business teams:

  • SPC & Auths Change Department
Each of the Change Departments comprises of key change disciplines, such as project management, business analysis, and business change. We work in close partnership with business stakeholders across the organisation to deliver critical business change, includingtechnology, regulation, and process improvements. We also work closely with technical experts and architects in the Technology division, who play a key role in the design, delivery and running of the FCAs systems and services.We are looking for Business Analysts to join our Change Departments to help to deliver our ambitious portfolio. Successful candidates will have some experience of supporting the delivery of business and IT change, will demonstrate good stakeholder managementand communication skills, and use their problem-solving, proactive mindset to collaborate with others.The post holder will have the opportunity to develop their analysis skills by working on a range of exciting projects, which help to build trust in our financial markets, and make a positive impact to the lives of vulnerable consumers. Our data-focussedinitiatives are introducing machine learning and powerful search capabilities to optimise our use of data, so that we can more proactively address potential consumer harm. Our regulatory projects operationalise new financial policy through new systems andprocess, enabling the UK financial industry to meet its legal obligations and improving outcomes for consumers and markets.Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the definition of the business analysis approach for projects in alignment with the FCA Business Analysis Framework, ensuring that BA output on the project is fit for purpose, represents value for money, is correctly sized and is delivered ontime.
  • Supporting and or/delivering facilitating of the identification of and documenting business requirements and working with colleagues from the sponsoring business area and our technology partners to agree suitable solutions.
  • Completing Business Analysis deliverables (e.g. process mapping, data flow diagramming), facilitating workshops with the business utilising a variety of business analysis methods embracing GAP analysis, requirements gathering and validation.
  • Establishing and maintaining agreement between the business customer and solution provider on requirements including traceability management across the full project lifecycle.
Fostering innovation and collaboration, be an active contributor to the Business Analysis Practice, supporting the ongoing development of the Business Analysis Framework.What will you get from the role

An improved understanding of the FCA and specific business areas.Minumum Critera· Has held a role(s) as "Business Analyst" or within Change functions.· Some level of project experience.· A keen desire to succeed and develop.· A team player and strong communicator.Essential criteriaRequired role-specific know-how, skills and behaviours· Some knowledge of business analysis tools, techniques and best practice approaches.· Can quickly develop domain knowledge to credibly engage with stakeholders on the problem statement.· Delivers quality outputs at pace in both structured, and fluid/challenging environments.· Good stakeholder management skills. Builds strong engagement with SMEs.· Some experience of project lifecycles delivered within a range of project delivery methodologies including Waterfall & Agile
