Job title: Junior BrewerReporting into: Lead BrewerLocation: West YorkshireSalary and Package: Up to £24,000, Bonus, 29 Holidays and Company Wide Benefitsdiscretionary bonus, 8% pension, private healthcare, life assurance, staff discount, cycle to work scheme and 28 days holiday, after two years continuous service this increases to a maximum of 33 daysRole OverviewA junior position within the brewing and cellaring team to assist with the production of wort, its fermentation and conditioning in line with quality control and production targets.Daily responsibilities:Assisting Production and Senior Brewers on all daily dutiesCarrying out daily brewhouse duties, when on shift with a Production or Senior Brewer:Assist PB/SB in operating on a fully automated 150hl brewhouseAssist PB/SB in all aspects of wort productionBrewhouse CIPsEntering and extracting all necessary data from BOTEC/SAP and other relevant programmesAssisting other brewers during shift overlaps.Performing basic quality checks. Phys-Chem checks, yeast counts & yeast viability.Ensuring correct use, storage and stock level management of relevant raw materials (malt, hops, salts etc).Assisting Senior and Lead Brewer in Project work where neededCarrying out daily Cellaring duties, including:Operating in a fully automated cellar.Measuring in tank CO2/DO.Ensuring beer is in spec for packaging dates.Yeasting /hopping off vessels as required.Carrying out Vessel cleans (CIPs).Operating automated Dry-Hopping procedure.Separation of green beer using a centrifuge.Filtration of beer using a sheet filter.Monitoring fermentation, ensuring Fermentation profiles are adhered to.Performing basic quality checks. Phys-Chem checks, yeast counts & yeast viability.Candidate Requirements:Strong understanding of brewing science, equipment and techniques6 months brewery experience OR relevant academic qualification (MSc/IBD)Strong record keeping abilitiesGood time managementCapable of physical work, including lifting at least 25kg loadsIncreasing your understanding of the art and science of brewing through study and investigation (all Brewers should be working towards their IBD certificate or equivalent)All staff have a duty to work in accordance with the Health & Safety
