Job Description

Green Park is currently working with the new, government-owned policy bank (UK Infrastructure Bank) - launched in June 2021 - that are providing £22bn of infrastructure finance and partnering with the private sector and local government to finance a greenindustrial revolution and drive growth across the country.They are a mission led institution looking for skilled and results oriented individuals who are motivated to help them build the UKIB into an industry-leading institution. Overall, the PM team will oversee the Bank’s growing portfolio of loans, guarantees and equity assets in the five priority sectorsidentified in the Bank’s framework (clean energy, transport, digital, water and waste). The PM team will also provide guidance and portfolio input into the Risk function and will influence UKIB’s pipeline of new transactions with the aim of delivering a positivefinancial return. Collectively, the PM team is fundamental to the UKIB achieving its mission of investing profitably to reduce UK carbon emissions and local growthIf you are interested in this role, please apply through this advert with Green Park, and NOT UKIB directly.Please note that this role will be based at their Leeds office.Job PurposeThe role holder will actively manage and oversee a portfolio of debt, guarantee and equity assets spread across the five priority sectors identified in the Bank’s framework (clean energy, transport, digital, water and waste.The job holder will also actively manage risk and will provide input into the UKIB’s pipeline of new transactions with the aim of delivering a positive financial return.This critical role is fundamental to the UKIB achieving its mission of investing profitably to reduce UK carbon emissions and local growth.Core responsibilities include:

  • Monitor progress on key projects, engage with project sponsors and equity fund managers and use specialist expertise to identify when projects are at risk and as needed be accountable for accurately implementing the appropriate and necessary mitigatingaction to protect the interests of the Bank.
  • Build internal models, interrogate external models, carry out sensitivity analysis, analysing outputs so as to ensure risks are managed and problems identified early.
  • Analyse significant amounts of complex qualitative and quantitative information such as financial models, technical and legal analysis, facility documentations and deeds. With the purpose of effectively recommending actions that align with the bank’s mission.
  • Attend site visits and meet the Project Company management team, to inspect project progress and as required effectively scrutinise management in order to assess whether the project is progressing to the agreed project plan.
  • Negotiate waivers and consents to protect the Bank in respect of deals/investments and to preserve the reputation of the Bank in the marketplace.
  • Negotiate and coordinate any required documentation, test covenant compliance, test future financial projections and financial accounts to ensure that deals remain financially sound and aligned to the mission and objectives of UKIB.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for Investment Committee and Credit Committee to inform the Committees about the risks presented by new projects, how those risks should be mitigated and how pricing should be structured.
  • Actively contribute to the design and implementation of the Bank’s strategic Portfolio Management system to ensure the infrastructure supporting the business is reliable and sustainable.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience requirements:
  • Established portfolio management skills tested in an infrastructure context.
  • Demonstrable commercial expertise and perspectives combined with a high degree of accountability for high value and sensitive projects.
  • Substantial and relevant sectorial experience across the broader infrastructure spectrum, potentially within the energy, power, transport, construction or social infrastructure sectors.
  • External counter-party management skills will be critical. The successful candidate will confidently and professionally represent the Bank in dealing with clients, other banks and legal firms.
  • Debt experience, ideally gained in a banking or project finance environment is critical as the successful candidates will engaged in debt structuring, refinancing, credit analysis, and monitoring/management of a loan portfolio.
  • Product experience relevant to the Bank’s product offering: fixed and floating loans, guarantees (including inflation linked debt guarantees). Experience in direct equity investment and equity funds will be an advantage.
