Job Description

This is your opportunity to build your career, gaining rich commercial experience in a well valued, forward thinking, ever evolving team.The Commercial function is responsible for NHS Digitals system wide commercial strategy and operation and ensures effective procurement, category management and contract management. We spend hundreds of millions of pounds per annum, executing and managing deals under exciting deadlines to deliver services that support world leading products and services into the NHS. We are interested in people with commercial skills in technology, data, digital, professional services and contingent labour to operate across our category and sourcing teams. As part of the role you will be responsible for

  • Strategy- implementing key strategic initiatives across SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) and Industry Engagement with effective market interaction to build better professional buying and relationship management behaviours.
  • Engagement- develop, shape and adapt commercial teams and resources to support the delivery of the commercial strategy and programme/operational requirements.
  • Delivery- develop commercial strategies and category plans relating to common goods and services, delivering measurable and significant commercial results including savings and other indirect benefits.
  • Operations- develop, implement and manage technical solutions to enable effective procurement, contract management and SRM. Ensure compliant commercial practice, process efficiency and robust controls and assurance mechanisms across the full commercial lifecycle.
  • About youWe want you to be set for success, these are some of the key skills and experience that youll bring to the role:
  • Providing and receiving highly complex, highly sensitive or contentious information. Liaise with stakeholders, communicating highly complex concepts and issues, clearly and accurately, and adapting communication style to suit the recipient.
  • Judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
  • Formulate long term strategic plans extend for at least the future year, which involve uncertainty, and which may impact across the whole organisation, taking into account the overall aims and policies of the service/directorate/organisation and create an operational framework.
  • Responsible for a range of policy implementation and policy or service development for a directorate or equivalent. Ensure compliance to corporate standards and policies and undertake quality assessments as appropriate.
  • Oversee direct and indirect resources to achieve goals. Manage the delivery of assigned objectives within designated level of authority, budgetary constraints and finite resource.
  • Manage own and others workload and make informed decisions based on available but incomplete information, working to tight and often changing timescales.
  • Review complex data and recognise their relevance to operational delivery objectives Produce formal reports and minutes; examples include for Boards, NHS Digital business plans service forecasts, and key performance indicators.
  • MCIPS accreditation or evidence of equivalent level of experience.
  • IACCM Expert status or evidence of equivalent level of experience.
