Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Solutions Team as Apprentice Systems Administrator.The scope of your role will include gaining a technical understanding of the systems we operate to enable you to triage, diagnose, and resolve/escalate service incidents and problems. This will include installation and configuration of cloud and softwareapplications including infrastructure as code, service patching, service availability/performance monitoring, and maintenance of service documentation and runbooks.You will interact regularly with development and support teams, account managers, client helpdesk and service managers.Main Responsibilities

  • Investigation and resolution of live service incidents and problems whilst managing the tickets within the ITSM tool.
  • Engaging with customers regularly to update on incident status.
  • Deployment, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud services typically within AWS and Azure environments.
  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of Open Source, commercial and bespoke software using both GUI and CLI.
  • Monitoring of customer environments to ensure system functionality and availability using OpsView, Shinken, Nagios and Uptrends.
  • Maintenance of operational documents and knowledge articles with the ITSM tool and the Atlassian Tool Set.
  • Routine maintenance activities such as patching, releases and deployments using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Administration tasks within Windows and Linux using PowerShell and Linux CLI.
  • Creating and deploying infrastructure as code, i.e. Terraform.
