Apprentice Facilities Technician - Patient EnvironmentWe are recruiting motivated, caring and compassionate individuals for the role ofApprentice Facilities Technician (Patient Environment)This 30 hours per week variable shift pattern apprenticeship is undertaken within a 13 month fixed-term contract and provides an ideal opportunity to begin your facilities management or healthcare career at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will be based at either Leeds General Infirmary or St James’s University Hospital, but could be required to work across sites, including our other hospitals at Seacroft, Chapel Allerton or Wharfedale.Successful applicants will work as team members on rotation between varying wards and departments on their allocated site giving direct support to patients and the clinical team, and will attend timetabled study sessions.You will be required to work a combination of shifts, including days, twilights, nights and weekends, as appropriate to your work area but will be notified of these in advance.The apprenticeship is delivered in collaboration between the Trust and an education provider. On successful completion of coursework and practical assessments, you will receive a Level 2 healthcare cleaning operative qualification, a Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety, plus a level 1 qualification in Maths and English if you do not already hold this.In the supporting information section on your application form, please answer the following questions before providing us with any other information you feel is necessary to your application.Question 1: What do you think you will be doing in this jobQuestion 2: What are your plans for managing the academic part of this course alongside working full timeOn successful completion of the programme you can progress to a permanent band 2 Facilities Technician position within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. From here we offer supported on-going learning with an opportunity for career progression.If your application is shortlisted you will be asked to complete an online assessment in Literacy & Numeracy, scheduled for w/c 1 March. Those candidates who achieve the required level will be invited to attend an Apprentice Facilities Technician assessment centre, scheduled for the 9 March.As part of the assessment centre you will be asked to take part in work based scenarios and have a short interview. Further information regarding the timetable for the day will be issued nearer the time if you are invited to attend.Candidates must be at least 16 years of age on the assessment day( you will be asked to provide evidence of this at the time of interview).
