Job Description

And hope.Education provides prisoners with an opportunity to upskill, increasing their future employment prospects which directly reduces the likelihood of reoffending. Many prisoners will arrive without having basic Maths or English skills. Prison Education ensuresall learners are put through Functional Skills Maths & English, which then puts them on the pathway to vocational learning courses, such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Plastering & Tiling, Cleaning, Barbering, Catering and Horticulture.Prisons have a dedicated education department, with classrooms and fully functioning workshops, where teaching and learning can take place. You will be fully supported by an experienced education department. Training and development opportunities are available.Details of this position:This position is for a Regional Manager for Prison Education to work across the South-East with responsibility for the management of the education departments within 5 Prisons.In this role you will have an outstanding opportunity to work as part of the Senior Leadership team whose function is to support the delivery of an outstanding curriculum within prisons. You will have the opportunity to positively enhance the lives of teachersand learners through management, coaching and support.Teaching must be maintained at a high standard within each establishment to meet identified learning needs, improve employability and resettlement prospects and reduce re-offending. The person responsible will be accountable for supporting Curriculum Managersand teaching teams within each establishment and maintaining positive working partnerships with Governors, Heads of Reducing Reoffending and Learning and Skills Managers within the prisons to ensureYou will be fully conversant with the challenges and changes needed to respond to Ofsted, Awarding Body, and National, Regional and Local priorities. Also of critical importance is the ability to demonstrate and build on a proven track record of successfulchange management, relationship building, partnership working and problem resolution.This role would be suitable be for an experienced Curriculum Manager or Regional Manager currently working within education, looking to move into prison education.Key Responsibilities:As post-holder you will be accountable to the Prison Lot Director and play a crucial supporting role in ensuring the following:

  • Efficient curriculum planning and delivery to meet targets.
  • Knowledge and experience of PEF funding methodologies to monitor and maximise income.
  • Proactive data analysis to limit and resolve delivery deficits.
  • Effective staffing levels, management, and training.
  • Consistent high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Positive learner feedback and outcomes.
  • Readiness for successful HMIP / Ofsted inspections.
Essential details:Work schedule: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per weekSalary scale: £45,000 - £47,600Holidays: 30 days + bank holidays + up to 5 College closure daysCar allowance: £4200 + travel expensesTo be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  • A teaching qualification (Level 5)
  • A degree or vocational qualification (related to your subject specialism)
  • Experience teaching in an education setting
  • Experience teaching within a Further education setting (desirable)
  • Experience teaching Adult Learners (desirable)
  • A driving license.
